LUP has been at the forefront of Modern Languages publishing since the founding of the Bulletin of Hispanic Studies in 1923. Today, its Contemporary French and Francophone Cultures book series edited by Charles Forsdick is a world-leading outlet for cutting edge research in French Studies. Authors who have published in and around the series include: Celia Britton, Mireille Rosello, Larry Schehr, David H. Walker, Deborah Jenson, Chris Bongie, Keith Reader and Doris Kadish.
The Press’s recently expanded Hispanic Studies list includes the Contemporary Hispanic and Lusophone Cultures series under the joint editorship of L. Elena Delgado and Richard Rosa. The first volume published in this new series was Spanish Screen Fiction by the internationally acclaimed critic Paul Julian Smith. Another influential scholar, Catherine Davies, has recently been appointed editor for the long-running Liverpool Latin American Studies series and a new Liverpool Latin American Textbooks series, while the forthcoming American Tropics series under the general editorship of Peter Hulme promises a truly comparative literary history of the Americas.
