English Literature at LUP has always meant a mixture of the canonical and the non-canonical. On one hand, the Press has a distinguished track record of publishing in Romanticism, with landmark volumes including the Letters of John Murray to Lord Byron. On the other, the Liverpool Science Fiction Texts and Studies series now includes more the fifty titles by such authors as Brian Aldiss, Joanna Russ and Mike Ashley.
The Postcolonialism Across the Disciplines series, edited by Graham Huggan and Andrew Thompson, seeks to chart a way forward for postcolonial studies in the twenty-first century and has rapidly established itself as one of the most important series of its kind in current debates. Recent authors include Chris Bongie, Charles Forsdick, David Murphy and Rosemary Jolly.
Boasting books by John Kerrigan, Peter Robinson, Stan Smith, John Kinsella and Angela Leighton, LUP is also renowned for its commitment to publishing the best scholarship on contemporary poetry.
