THE ETERNAL COVENANT, ATONEMENT, AND ENVIRONMENTAL RESTORATION

Modern Believing (2013), 54, (4), 318–327.

Abstract

A former special adviser to Britain’s Secretary of State for International Development, later seconded to the UN Secretary General’s office to help organize a head of government level climate conference, the author describes his loss of faith in international politics to solve the problems facing the planet. He points to a ‘myth gap’, a loss of any sense of overall purpose, arising from the emphasis on intellect and technology at the expense of vision and value. The theological concepts of creation, covenant and atonement are presented as an antidote to this lack.
