Instead of the Anglican Covenant

Modern Believing (2012), 53, (2), 152–158.

Abstract

Proponents of the Anglican Covenant sometimes challenge opponents to suggest alternative resolutions of the disputes in the Anglican Communion. This article seeks to provide one. The Covenant responds to a theological disagreement by proposing to change the Communion's power structures. Instead theological disagreement should be resolved through theological research and debate, and the role of church leaders should be to encourage the debate to be well-informed, respectful and devoid of threats to exclude.
