The Impact of Age, Personality and Churchmanship on Baptism Policy among Anglican Clergy in Wales
Abstract
A sample of 224 male priests in the Church in Wales completed the short form Eysenck Personality Questionnaire Revised, a 15-item index of baptism policy and a measure of churchmanship. The data demonstrated that, while neither age nor personality are significant predictors of baptism policy, churchmanship is a significant predictor of baptism policy. Anglo-Catholic clergy are inclined to espouse a more open baptism policy: Evangelical Anglican clergy are inclined to espouse a more restrictive baptism policy.
