Indexes in Cyrillic imprints in early modern Ukraine and Russia

The Indexer: The International Journal of Indexing (2020), 38, (1), 11–28.

Abstract

The article examines the development of book indexing in early modern Ukraine and Russia. The author argues that the efforts to introduce indexes in print culture were sporadic and inconsistent. These efforts were the result of the private initiatives of a few educated editors and printers who were closely linked to Western culture.
