Networking and cooperation for architectural archives/records

Abstract

The article explains the specific character of architectural archives and the various uses made of these archives which are different from the uses of ‘regular’ archives. Cooperation between archivists is very important, enabling them to exchange knowledge about the handling, maintenance and use of these archives. Current architectural working practices with CAD systems is making records difficult to keep for future use and underlines the need for cooperation between archivists, architectural collections and architects during the design process. The article gives a short overview of different international networks and co-operative ventures.
