Online training programs, an opportunity to be developed

Comma (2010), 2010, (1), 85–90.

Abstract

This paper draws on the author's experiences as a distance learning student in a developing country. Distance learning presented a number of very significant advantages both on a professional and a personal level, the main one being that it was possible to continue working while providing access to much needed training. There were also some disadvantages caused mainly by the fact that St Kitts has never had a functioning archives and relevant study resources were not to be found locally. Studying online encouraged the development of different set of study skills and relationships which have demonstrated a usefulness far beyond the program of studies and minimized the isolation of the lone archivist on a little known island.
