Abstract

Américanité, which we have heard so much about in critical discussions of recent literature and film from Quebec, also marks contemporary Quebec music in numerous ways. This essay examines selected songs and musical styles of Québécois songwriters and performers as they comment on various aspects of américanité in the 1980s and 90s.
