The Indexer: The International Journal of Indexing

Proposal for an index of book indexes

The Indexer: The International Journal of Indexing (1970), 37, (3), 241–252.

Abstract

This article proposes a novel method for integrating the indexes of many books into one database that could then be used in a variety of ways. The interfaces would include an end-user query tool utilizing a proximity index and a topic map for indexers. It could potentially act as a mechanism for users to find a list of books that met their requirement for a book within a given subject domain and also provide a familiar interface to support the indexer.
